Personally, I moved from Virginia 6 years ago to complete my doctorate with Duke School of Medicine’s occupational therapy program. I’ve worked with diverse patients including those with spinal cord injury, brain injury, dementia, progressive/degenerative disease, heart failure, SPO2 use, and orthopedic conservative or post-operative care (fractures or joint replacements). I’m also a certified aging expert with the Functional Aging Institute and hold a certificate from Duke’s Fuqua School of business.

I began my journey with the “hot spotting” program where I met “John” (the patient in the photo). There, we reduced hospitalizations by almost 50% for our community patients. He and my own grandmother inspire me to help others age in place.
